Good restaurants in Mississauga are few and far between, as much of the city is taken over by chain establishments. Luckily, the Village of Streetsville is home to a few of my favourites, including Goodfellas Wood Oven Pizza. As I’m sure you can tell by the name, this place is as Italian as it gets.
Last night, I went there for dinner with my sister and cousin. A reservation is highly recommended as we arrived at 8 p.m. for ours and the couple in front of us were told the wait was 45 mins to an hour.
Our meal started with a bottle of their house red ($36) – trust me, it’s good. For our appetizer, we ordered the arancini siciliani ($15), three saucy, cheesy rice balls, which were incredible.
All three of us ordered the tagliatelle al funghi e tartufo ($18), fresh pasta with mushrooms and truffle oil, but I’ve also had their pizzas and rolled veal (braciola di carne alla napoletana) during past visits. I’ll excuse the fact that the appetizer came at the same time as our meal, simply because we didn’t wait long at all and everything was delicious.
For desert, we had the pizza nutella ($10), which is exactly as it sounds: their focaccia topped with Nutella, strawberry and banana slices and icing sugar.
See you again soon, Goodfellas!
