On Thursday, a group of my coworkers and I took to the kitchen for the Home for Dinner program. The program provides home cooked meals for Sick Kids and their families staying at Ronald McDonald House Toronto. Our group was responsible for food preparation, serving and clean-up. We were even lucky enough to receive a tour of the House and its facilities.

While I have volunteered for many events over the years, this one surprised and fulfilled me most by far. Ronald McDonald House is a positive place full of exciting and educational programming which brings families together and helps kids forget about their illnesses.

It’s quite something when you volunteer your time in hopes of simply giving to the community, yet you feel as though you get something in return. Gratefulness and perspective are the blessed gifts I received from the families at volunteers at Ronald McDonald House and I can’t thank them enough for welcoming our group into their home.
